Speaking

I speak to churches, retreats, and small groups who are ready to sit with hard questions instead of moving past them quickly. I don't come with a formula for growth or maturity. I come with what I've learned from thirty years in ministry, and from losing then finding again — a version of faith I could actually live inside.

Some of what I've found myself returning to, in one place or another:

— What do you do when the framework you built your faith on stops holding weight?

— Is God actually present in suffering, or just watching from somewhere else?

— What does grief have to teach us that comfort can't?

— Can doubt be a form of faithfulness instead of a failure of it?

These aren't fixed talks. Tell me what your community is going through, and we'll figure out together what God might be saying.

I'm also glad to simply preach. If you're a pastor who needs a Sunday to rest, I'll take a passage you give me and fill your pulpit so you don't have to.

Good fits: retreats, church services, staff days, small groups.
